Admin, I signed up for niketalk because I have a pair of nike shoes that I would like to be able get help ion identifying the model of. However, I cannot seem to find where to click to create a new topic anywhere within forums? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    Reply from Method Man:

NikeTalk uses a membership by approval system. Now that you've created a Yuku account, you need to sign in to that account and apply for posting access on NikeTalk.

Go to an open forum, like General or Nike, and attempt to create a post or reply to a topic. You should be taken to a screen that allows you to apply for membership to NikeTalk. Once you've done so, you'll be added to our applicant pool. We generally process new applications during the first few days of each month. We've already processed applications for July, so the next group will be admitted in August.

We'd like to streamline the registration process in the future, but for the time being we have to work with the existing tools the Yuku platform offers.

    Whoaaaa.

Is it true you're handing out year suspensions?

    07/04/08

    Reply from Method Man:

Basically, we're not going to reinstate anyone's preferred account name until they've gone a year without recording a single warning under any account.

If you've received a suspension, your account will be reinstated at the specified time. If you've been permanently banned, however, we will NOT lift that ban until you've PROVEN your commitment to following our community rules.

In other words, those users who were permanently banned (not suspended) a few weeks back shouldn't even bother asking us for reinstatement - it's not happening. We may give you the opportunity to post again under a different account name, meaning you have to start from scratch and work your way toward reinstatement.

So, all of our members should be sure they've familiarized themselves with our Rules of Conduct

Hey, Meth. It's been a month. Can you release me?

    07/03/08

    Reply from Method Man:

Sometimes with automated suspensions, people just assume that they'll lift at midnight the day of like Cinderella. It actually works by adding 30 (I believe it's 30, it may be 31) days from the actual moment of the ban. So, if you were banned at 5 PM on February 1st, you won't be reinstated at midnight on March 1st. So, usually we wait on these until the suspension is supposed to lift itself. In this case, for whatever reason the reinstatement didn't seem to trigger. It could be that it was accidentally entered as a permanent ban, yet noted as a suspension. So, I've manually lifted the ban.

Anyone else with a similar issue, though, should wait until at least 24 hours after the day of the suspension before inquiring about it.

Hopefully this will be your last suspension, but a benefit of the "comments" section is that I can answer some of these questions in a way that's visible to others and, hopefully, saves us all some time in the future.

    Peace.

    Hey Meth,

can I get my reinstatement now? I was banned awhile ago and it feels like it's been a few months, so how bout it?

    06/26/08

    Reply from Method Man:

Read the responses below. 12 months without a warning is now the standard.

    Peace.

so when should I ask for a reinstatement? end of '08? '09?

    Reply from Method Man:

That all depends on you. If you don't pick up another warning from this day forward, we can reinstate the account one year from the date of the last violation - which would be in March of '09. If you get another warning tomorrow, then we're looking at June 25th of 2009.

What we're looking for is a proven commitment to abide by our community rules.

While 1 year may seem harsh, bear in mind that you still have the ability to post. So, we've been quite forgiving in that regard. To fully regain the staff's trust and earn the reward of your preferred SN, though, you'll need to essentially act as a model member.

    Peace.

Hello Meth, can you unban my previous sn? it's almost a year since I've been banned. The sn is "G to tha T"

    thanks.

    06/21/08

    Reply from Method Man:

It may have been nearly a year since that SN was banned, but we can't reinstate preferred screen names until you go a year without acquiring any warnings on your current account(s) and, in your case, you were suspended for one month back in March. So, you've still got a ways to go before we'll be able to reinstate "Go to tha T."

    Peace.

Props on that lesson about the report button. I'm serious. Some people don't understand the members need to help out the mods clean the forum.

    Reply from Method Man:

Thanks, I know there are a lot of mature people out there who DO appreciate our goal of maintaining a safe, friendly community for sneaker fans from around the world.

People like that, people like you, are the reason we work so hard to continue to provide NikeTalk for sneaker fans. Those of us on the staff represent but a tiny fraction of our overall membership, and we ALL have to work together to make NikeTalk the best it can be.

We can make the forum better by ADDING great content, helping other members out and contributing positivity to the forums, and we can also make the forum better by SUBTRACTING inappropriate content. That's where the report post feature comes into play. It's easy to do and it helps our volunteers quickly identify the exact problems that our fellow members would like to see addressed on the board.

We'd love to see more of our fellow members take advantage of the feature. Those who put in the effort can see the results and they know they're doing their part to keep NikeTalk at its best.
